Saturday morning... {D}

I love Saturday mornings…

The pace is slower and there's more time for reflection…

Of course, I have my coffee in hand…

today it’s a splurge of my favorite...
 freshly ground beans of Snickerdoodle...

and I'm thinking of that book from a few years back that had you list five things you’re grateful for…

This is such a good habit for me to get in to.  The area of contentment, of being okay with my life, of not comparing it to others, has always been a struggle for me. What I'm learning is that contentment is not automatic...it's a choice.  I can choose to think on the what ifs and but whys in my life or I can choose to rest in the thank you Gods.

Okay, here’s my list…

1. Always first is my God and Savior…His mercy and grace…His ultimate sacrifice…His innate goodness.

2. Of course, my family…both the one I was born into and those joined by marriage.

3. My cozy cottage…

4. Good health to enjoy doing the things that bring me happiness and joy…

5. My friends…both old and dear and my new blogging friends. I never would have imagined you were all out there with your warm and encouraging words.

If I could add a sixth…it would definitely be this coffee…mmm…wish you could smell its wonderfulness.  Now go pour yourself a nice hot cup...

I'd love to know what’s on your list?

My life is certainly not without it's stresses and struggles but I am finally...

 thankfully content,

Patty

"Not that I was ever in need, for I have learned to be content with whatever I have.  I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything,  I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little.  For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength."  Philippians 4: 11-13

Hi....this is so delightful. The porch is the first place my hubby and I head for on Saturday morning....with cinnamon rolls and coffee.

Enjoy!

Such an inspirational post! I needed to read this today. I always have trouble with continment. I need to appreciate what I do have and not wish for more. My mom had a stroke again today. We are in the process of moving there and just can't seem to get there fast enough.

Your coffee smells extra good with the 'Forties napkin lining your tray--so cheery and fun.

Choosing to be content and grateful is a wise beginning!

This is a excellent post! I choose to be content, and I am content. It's only by prayers to our Father that I can achieve this.
This has always been a struggle for me until I started praying about it.
God Bless and thank-you for this post today,
Ginger

You have really touched on a much needed topic. My opinion is that just about everybody who comes to your post this weekend will recognize the need for your message. I just looked up and saw Ginger's comment. I can testify to the truthfulness of her words. We are related by marriage. There was a time when she wasn't content but now she is. I'm confident this has come through prayer.

Hi Patty, since I moderate my comments....I read yours but don't have the slightest idea what post it went under. Yikes! But I did enjoy reading it....thanks!

Anyway, just to let you know.....I also felt an instant connection with you. I do believe we could be kindred spirits. :-)Isn't it lovely to meet new friends?

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Hi Patty!
I love this post! I almost felt like I was there with you enjoying the beauty of your porch on your relaxing Saturday with coffee in hand! :) I used to listen to a great lady on the Christian radio...she has retired now. She used to say "Peace lies in contentment"....I would ponder on that and realized there is so much wonderful truth in that message! I love Philipians!

Hugs,
Carolyn
