My nice orderly, symmetrical loving husband had a beautiful idea for the side border that runs along our driveway.
He ripped out the tangled mess of old shrubs and rosebushes that were way past their prime.
His idea was to plant a neat row of these prolific white iceberg tree roses.
Now you know I just couldn't let all that nicely turned over soil go untouched.
so last fall I sowed some cosmo and zinnia seeds...
and they grew tall and beautiful...
and he loved them...
if you look closely their beautiful seedlings are returning already...
so this spring when the pansies, allysum and dianthus went in, he didn't fuss too much...
In fact, his only concern is that they're still so small...
I just may convert him yet.
Have a beautiful, sunny weekend,
Patty

hi Patty just joined in from Tootsie's. Those plants are so happy you planted them in that patch of barren soil....and they are now so beautiful! Happy weekend.
It's a beautiful border.
Patty,
I love your tree rose. I had one around my patio and lost it last year. I ordered another one this year, which is suppose to be weeping, and it is just a starting to leaf out. I will be excited to see it in full bloom.
The tree rose is going to be the perfect addition! Great idea ... and all your other additions look beautiful!
What a fun new bed. It will really have color when the cosmo and zinnias bloom.
I love how your converting your DH....what a fun way to convert ;)

It's a lovely border, Patty. Great idea to get your husband involved in the garden - and I love the tree roses he planted.
The roses are beautiful as are the complimentary flowers that you planted!

Hugs, Carolyn
Iceberg is one of the best roses ever! My bees love my allysum and I love the way it comes back year after year with no effort on my part :)
You will have to take a picture when it all fills in. I bet it is going to be beautiful. :)
